Pressure and Wire Myograph Installation at the University of Colorado Denver

A combined pressure and wire myograph installation supporting research into vascular function and physiology.

DMT pressure and wire myograph installation at the University of Colorado Denver

DMT Senior Scientific Product Specialist Larry Agbor, Ph.D., M.S., completed a successful installation of pressure and wire myograph systems at the University of Colorado Denver.

A combined myograph installation

The installation brought both pressure and wire myography capabilities into the laboratory, giving the research team complementary approaches for studying vascular function and physiology.

We were pleased to support Zachary Clayton, Ph.D., Branden Nguyen and the CU Denver team as they prepared the systems for future research. The visit focused on setting up the equipment in the laboratory and helping the team move confidently toward experimental use.

Combining pressure and wire myography gives researchers complementary ways to investigate vascular behavior under controlled laboratory conditions.

Supporting vascular function and physiology research

Pressure myography allows researchers to study intact small vessels under controlled intraluminal pressure, while wire myography measures isometric force in isolated vessel rings and other tissue preparations. Together, these methods can support a broader view of vascular reactivity, mechanics and physiology.

Pressure myography

System setup supporting studies of pressurized vessels, vascular diameter and functional responses under controlled conditions.

Wire myography

Installation of wire myograph capability for measuring isometric force and vascular reactivity in isolated preparations.

Research focus

Complementary tools intended to support the CU Denver team’s work in vascular function and physiology.

Onsite support

Practical installation and system orientation delivered in the laboratory where the instruments will be used.

Why complementary methods matter

No single experimental method captures every aspect of vascular function. Pressure myography preserves the vessel’s tubular geometry and controlled pressure environment, while wire myography provides precise force measurements across concentration-response and functional studies.

Using both approaches can help a laboratory select the method that best fits each research question and compare functional findings across different experimental preparations.
