PROFESSOR ROBERT WIDDOP, HEAD OF DEPARTMENT, PHARMACOLOGY
Prof. Robert Widdop obtained his Ph.D. in 1986 in the Department of Pharmacology, Monash University, working with Associate Professor Geoff Bentley on the cardiovascular effects of the antihypertensive agent clonidine, and related agents.
Prof. Widdop’s has focused his comprehensive research on numerous cardiovascular disease states including hypertension, atherosclerosis, stroke and heart failure and the development of novel treatments. He established and continues to manage the Integrative Cardiovascular Pharmacology Group at Monash.
Prof. Widdop is a member of several Editorial Boards and has served as a member of the Grant Review and Research Fellowship Panels for the NHMRC, and is currently Chief Investigator on 4 NHMRC Project Grants, and has more than 120 publications.
ASSOC. PROFESSOR ELIZABETH DAVIS, DEPUTY HEAD (TEACHING), PHARMACOLOGY
Prof. Davis Elizabeth is an Education-Focussed Senior Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacology within the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University.
Through her involvement in national (ASCEPT) and international (IUPHAR) pharmacology societies, A/Prof. Davis is also helping to promote quality teaching of pharmacology across all relevant degree programs.
A/Prof. Davis research interests include student engagement with their studies and the use of technology in teaching and learning.
