Measurements of Kv7 (KCNQ) potassium channel activity in isolated arterial myocytes (using patch clamp electrophysiological techniques) in parallel with measurements of constrictor/dilator responses (using pressure myography) can reveal important information about the roles of Kv7 channels in vascular smooth muscle physiology and pharmacology.

Jagiellonian Centre for Experimental Therapeutics (JCET) is a new unit of the Jagiellonian University, designed to develop experimental pharmacotherapy of lifestyle diseases and endothelium-targeted therapeutics in particular.
In the Laboratory of Experimental Pharmacology of Endothelium there are used various vascular preparations (isolated vessels from various vascular beds; conductive vessels, resistance vessels) studied on DMT wire, pressure and tissue/organ bath systems.

The aim of the DMT Myograph Course is to introduce the participants to the basic principles involved in small vessel myography, such as the important experimental techniques and equipment used.
The course is composed of morning sessions that include a series of informative talks and discussions followed by afternoon sessions, which emphasize the development of hands-on experience.
Next course in Aarhus, Denmark will be held 22-26 October 2012.

The endogenous production of nitric oxide (NO) regulates a wide variety of biological functions. It is becoming increasingly clear that disruption or dysregulation of NO based signaling is involved in many human diseases. Methods to quantify relevant NO metabolites may provide novel diagnostic or prognostic biomarkers for human disease.

Danish Myo Technology A/S (DMT), a global provider of innovative equipment for ex-vivo studies of vascular structure and functions have opened a new office in Hong Kong. Having operated in Asia for many years, we are pleased to announce the expansion of our Asian operations with the opening of this new office. The Hong Kong office of DMT-Asia, Ltd. will provide a central hub in which we can facilitate relationships with customer and business partners better. The Hong Kong office is led by Dr. Calvin Chan – a former scientist from University of Hong Kong and a long-term user of various DMT systems.

NEW Interface for the DMT Pressure Myograph Systems

The high quality DMT Pressure Myograph Systems have undergone a revolutionary change with a highly improved, compact Pressure Interface. The NEW Pressure Interface combines the former Interface and Pressure Regulator into a single, compact unit. The Pressure Interface has also been updated with a touch screen control panel, similar to our very popular 620M Multi Myograph System. The new Pressure Interface can be delivered with a built-in DMT 161 Flowmeter (optional), making the lab-space requirement even smaller. The new Pressure Interface has several new features:

The NEW MyoVIEW II data acquisition software

MyoVIEW II is the new software from DMT for visualizing, detecting and acquiring diameter measurements from pressurized vessels in combination with the DMT Perfusion & Culture Myographs.
With a clean, intuitive user interface, it offers a very natural flow and is designed to facilitate ease-of-use still providing advanced features that any user will find simple to use. With precise control and enhanced functionality, MyoVIEW II is a more powerful data acquisition system for experiments in pharmacology, for investigating mechanisms related to myogenic responses, or for unveiling vasculopathies due to defects in flow- or shear stress-mediated dilation.

Passive mechanical testing of mouse carotid arteries is described, with special consideration for adapting to different specimen ages. The procedures include determining the in vivo length of the artery, mounting it in a pressure myograph, recording data, measuring the unloaded dimensions and analyzing the resulting data.
